Went to a documentary today. Expelled by Ben Stein. As much as i enjoyed seeing everyone, it was really boring and felt -- logically glitchy.
1. It was a big thing about how Darwinism is crushing out competition and replacing Christianity in schools. But it spent the WHOLE time talking about how Darwinism was evil, yet never talked about it being wrong. They only talked about the opression crimes of atheists (several of which are also commited by the church to nonchristians), never brought in any scientific evidence whether it was right or not. They kept talking about how Darwinists are dumb for assuming that thier right, yet this documentary simply assumed they weren't.
They kept shifting the villians too. They talked to several atheists, who were deeply rooted in thier beliefs and probly not bad or dumb people, then jumped to others who supressed other Christians, then to the Nazi's and the Soviets. It blened it all together to imply that theyre all the same person. You cant take a million criminals and assume they reprisent one another. It just doesn't work.
They also misused humor. If your gonna add comedy to a movie like that, do it in irony only. They kept taking old movie clips and used them to imply that were being attacked by frankenatheist.
Afterwards, I got into a debate with Ian about it, I just cant do in person debates well, so I kept losing my train of thought and getting flustered. Gonna email him later.

my two cents:
I thought the movie was altoghether a good one, assuming that their goal was to document the war between darwinism and intelligent design.
I think the documentary was well-made, and while the little bouts of random humor never really matched the topic, i think it kept the interviews from getting boring, like what happens so often in documentaries.
however, if they were aiming to argue the case of intelligent design, they missed the mark.
