Life and stuff

Crowns been going fairly well. Really not a whole lot to talk about...

Saw 21 the other day. it was a good movie, not the greatest, but good. Unlike most vegas movies like Oceans 13, I could actually relate to some of the charactors desisions. definatly not all of them, but more than other vegas casino movies.

Also been reading on Rob Bell a bit. Heard he has some morall issues, but have yet to see anything that REALLY sets me off.

Back to posting

Though most of my readers are crownies, the fact is that i may very well have some non crownie people, so heres the quick update on my classes

Homeroom - not much to report. Really dont have any complex descriptions or feeling bout this.

American Lit - Not as much homework as previous years and the material, though it doesn't exactly fascinate me, isn't completely dull. The studing of fiction is the part that does keep it interesting for me. Problem is that the homework is hard to figure out. Part of my frustration with that is my difficulty with staying organized.

Study Hall - Fun, not enthralling, but fun. lot of euchre, some stupiduel. maybe i can get a short game of mafia going sometime.

SAT class - hmm... cant say i like this class a whole lot, but i also cant say its difficult, and as its taught by mrs s, its not nearly as bad as it could be.

Lunch - ... i want my peanut product back... and wheres my soda... and now my junk food... I have nothing left... cept my favoite mercury-soaked and somewhat-healthy strange-thing-that-im-really-suprised-i-liked-though-its-been-one-of-my-favorite-foods-for-as-long-as-i-can-remember food -- TUNA... which mom doesnt buy very often.

Health - Oog. I admit that its informative, but like all health books, this curriculum seems to assume we have little life beyond our health. there are other ways to be happy, and they dont require a total rewriting of lifestyle and schedule. It only talks about how comlex it is to be healthy, but im not seeing too much about the benefits... if im gonna be doing all this, i want something out of it.

Art History - Again, oog. Not the most interesting topic in the world, and im honestly confused why were taking a course on it, but i am. Art isnt how my imagination expresses itself. fiction history, id be engrossed.

American history - Not the most interesting curriculem, but considering I have Chris' devestatingly smart dad for a teacher, and that the class spends more time on critical thinking than on history, this is probably my favorite class this year.

Sci olympiad - Hmm. mixed feelings here. itl probly be fun.

Basketball - Im not doing the team... the class is okay though, but im really not sports person

Random afterwards... mainly talking to people. most often EG, Mariel, or Matt. little confusing whats going on sometimes. maybe if a few who stay a while after come up with a plan to play stupiduel every week or something.

Physics - taught by my dad. Amazing teacher. the class is a lot more interesting them chem,, but a lot more math, and i REALLY dont like math...

Hmm... what else?

NHD: I would like to go with Ry, Kiri, Mitch, and Chris, but the fact is that that fifth place is probably needed more by vic than me. The alternatives include teaming with either new people, people i dont know super well, or people i dont think i can work ultra well with. I could go with lex, but i cant see us making that great a team without a mediator that knows us both well. Other option is going with Ian and Mariel. most of the stuff iv teamed up with the latter have come out ok, but Ian... I can see me and him doing great things if we ("we" meaning "I") can get past that first instinct to annoy and irritate. Other issue is that we have a narrow window of mutual interests, and we'd have to avoid our "hot button" topics. im also a little afraid well discover new ones. I guess my thoughts with this is more what its do to my friendship with ian. Itl either put a LOT of stress on it making us more frustrated with each other than usual, or itl help us find a common ground and give us a chance to find ways we can work together.

Well, thats my life in a nutshell, ill close with some lyrics to a song stuck in my head this week.

Wish I may,
Wish I might
Be someone else tonight.
Sometimes I wish I was never born at all.
And I'll try to save the world
Cause in the end I know
I'm the chosen one,
I'm the chosen one.

Plans changed, so I had time!

Hello. Ryan was going to coauthor with me, but he left, so im here alone. he might chime in later and ill update, or if he comes down before im done that might also be grounds for him coauthoring. or if kiri or mitch come down.

Well turns out the 6:00 meeting was just to go to the exibits, not the siteseeing stuff. well i finally got my buttons, so im able to trade now. in one night i traded of ALL my ohio buttons for other states. the only thing i have doubles of now is Wisconson. i dont have all, just many many many. my pant leg was covered side to side, pocket to knee. Made some friends there too! there was a girl from nebraska named Tracy who started wtih 6 buttons, but eventually traded and traded till she had a freelance buisness of like 30 buttons in a thing around her neck. She was... random... im worse, but shes more so than most people. Appearently i left an impression cause she remebered my name, but not ryans and didnt know mitches for a while. she referred to ry and EG as "Caleb's Friend" and "Caleb's Shadow" respectivly.

The preformances, at least the two i saw, were sooooo good! if you want more details ask me in person some time.

well i should go. bye YBIC and @

NHD day 3: still just me

Nothing new has happened much. well ok theres our interview, thats something, but otherwiser its mainly hanging out at the hotel or by the pool.

Interview went well. we knew most of the questions and the judges seemed mildly impressed.

Were going sightseeing later (planning on seeing the white house, the washington monument, the back of a penny, ect), and the whole reason were waiting is so that were tired when we get back and get a good nights sleep. like that ever happens. were going to meet the senators tomorow and spending the whole day dowtown.

And the reason im posting now is cause if all goes according to plan ill be too tired later.

Day 2

Sorry, just Caleb this time.

I should be going to bed as i need to be up early tomero, but i wanted to talk about today while its still fresh in my mind.

I went to mcdonalds to get some breakfast.
We met and left to go to the capitol
We took a tour of the pentagon. they have cool bulletproof windows,
I got a flashlight thingy
We went to arlington cemetary. REAALLY akward for me. Ineeded to be quiet and reseptful, but thats a problem for me, as i cannot think that profoundly, try as i might. I can be quiet, but even that only lasts 20 min, glad to leave. dont like funerals or graveyards... too serious for me.
Went to the smithsonian. interesting, but not super. kiri actually took a lot of pics. many of me. one i want her to delete, but i guess thats kinda hypocrisy.
Ate at noodles and co. kept running out of things to talk about, so we just kept randomly talking about the homeschool ball. it was all we could think of to speak of. we need a life.
Came back and reviewed. we went over our plan and practiced out interviews. we should do okay, but the questions are gonna be tough. things were rough for the junior team... they didnt make it. hopefully we can do better.

Please pray.

NHD day one three authors!

Well i finally reached the hotel. The trip here was annoying frustrating dull confusing and took forever. In short, a general school day.

Good news, infrequent poster tiger8 has agreed to coauthor this post with me.

Hi everyone! I am uploading our national version of the site, i will have a URL shortly.

Sooo ya, italics is ryan, normal is me.

We had a lot of fun today button trading

Ya but i left mine at home and megan was out of extras

Randomly, someone would come up to you and say "hey you gotta wyoming?" and i be like "no -- i got oh-hio" and they be like "ok deal" and it was done.

mine are coming by overnight mail. hopefully they arrive soon. like by tues or wed.

Trip here: Annoying and uneventful. Dad forgot to put maps in gps and spent an hour trying to upload them, only to realize he left the cord at his work. too out of the way to get, so he settles for mapquest.

Then on the way we listened to Silver Chair audio drama. the one where aslan sounds like a drunken game show host.

Then arrived.

Our trip here was pretty uneventful except for many, and frequent bathroom breaks as a result of the many little girls in the YG, and KC Car, though YG and KC were in our car. we did make a cantena and mitch can pick up wireless that the rest of us can't see, and we brodcasted a wireless network called "NHDorBUST" so that everyone could see. well I will back in a few I need to get that site up, some ppl have requested it.

YAY new coauthor! Everyone meet KC aka reddotdaisy!

Shell be in bold

Hey all! Ok... only Evie. Cause she's the only one who will probably check it. Humpf.

Well. I'm extremely tired. Too many late nights. Grrr. Rode all day in a car. Listened to random songs on the radio.... one's i havent thought about in forever.

ok. going up to get my little attitude. hehe. bye now.

aaaand. new coauthor leves.

My this is becomeing a very interesting post about nothing of major interest whatsoever.

Well, What else? Oh! I shaved yesterday. for the first time. hated every stinking second of it.

We contacted a old friend who lives down here hopefully well be able to see him over the week, but its a busy week so we might not.

Went to chipotle for the first time. felt like an abandoned factory, and there wasnt any food i liked. there were chips, but they wernt that great. too much lime, too little salt. Had maby 2 thirds of the bag, handed out some, then gave what ever was left after my eating and sharing to alex. she loved em.

I seem to be going all over the map chronologically, but there is the book sale yesterday. problem with explaining it is that the only person who will definatly read this was there and the ones who occasionally read this are here.
Biked there. wet day, mild rain.

Im looking up the pentagon, trying to figure out if we can aprk there. fun being with all these other history buffs.

K... um.. ya Well i did a lot of heavy lifting, helped set up, then hung out with Mariel, my sister (though mariel qualifies as my sis in christ, i am reffering to rachel), erin, seth, and christina. ran the consession stand and played stupiduel. didnt like the pizza for lunch so i biked to mickey d's and back for fries and a hamburger that got my order wrong. heavy lifted book into other peoples cars, then left.

Oh! new random fact! I had a wendys baconator. i ordered just meat and bacon, but they added mayo. my first time eating mayo. not that good, but i ate it and anjoyed the bacon and meat.

k think thats everything. Ryan will post the URL on his blog when he gets it.

Il doo all the sigs, so that whay they all in my style

Minor Historical event

My 1ooth post! I kid you not! This is exactly 100!

Part of me wants to never post again, just keep it even. Or maybe delete an older post for every new one? oh well, if i did that id never hit 200. lord know where i am counting xanga posts.

Yesterday went well. After blogging and relay I went to Mariel and Reddotdaisy's dance recital. They were amazing! There was the occasional sync issue with the younger dances, and though the boy dances were extremely cool, they didnt hit the same notes as Nate and Seth's dance. But the costumes were great (yes! modest dance costumes!), the dances themselves were great (yet completly free of butt shaking), and the story was an interesting twist on cinderella (never thought id ever be able to hear that story and like it at the same time). Then I went and talked to the celebrity dancers themselves, had a cupcake, then went home... and had some lemonade.

Then today i stayed home and did math and facebook. IMed, went to Mariel's to pick up some stuf that I have no clue what it was that I picked up, but I think it was for Sci next year. Then came home and watched Smallville. Good episode about Clark finally telling Lana his secret (then proposing), but she ends up dying, so he goes back in time to save her, doesnt tell, she breaks up with him, and Clarks Dad dies instead. Im liking Jor-El less and less every season. If you dont understand (and you probly dont) dont worry, im just randomly ranting.

On the plus side though, bible reading's going better this last week or so than it has since school ended.

And i have parts of Hawk Nelson's "ancient history" stuck in my head. I still picture hawk nelson as a person more easily than a band

Bye YBIC LDHF @

Relay for Life

Went to Relay for life today. It was a good day, but soo much happened.
We got there and started setting up about 7-8 am on sat. then at 9 we watched the survivors lap, where the cancer survivors do a lap and the teams cheer them on (our team held up signs and had James wearing boxing gloves punching at a punching bag that read "cancer"). Then we went on the team lap where we all go around in a circle once as a team. then we bagan to disperse. we always had one person on the track, but others would hang out at the campsite, and check out the other campsites (all of em, including ours, had small shops and stands selling stuff). Several of them took donations, which means you just give what you think its worth. Of course, this meant Dylan went up to the snocone macine for about 7 free snocones. So i spent the day in a long, drawn-out battle against dehydration. There are, of course, better weapons than soda, but hey, ill take what i can get.
Both Nathan and Jon volentreered to sit in the duncking booth, i played a cool trivia game about 3 times (during the second one i get a vibration in my cell phone from Mariel calling me). Caleb2 brought a 3 foot sub his boss had donated to us for lunch. Went with James to go get some gas and money, then again to get some coffee from a gas station. Then when I came back, there was a bomb squad truck that ad come and people could go look at it and stuff. I went and saw it, then called Mitch to tell him. Took me a while to explain that the bomb squad was there, but not showing live bomb demonstations. Then pizza. The usual sauseless. Then came evening. Went home to take a shower, but it was dark when i got out so dad had to drive me back (though i walked halfway). The night was as long as it was uneventful. James and Ian walked. A lot. Eventually (at like 4am) I went to bed and slept beneath the table for about 2-3 hours. Then I wake up and we do the final laps, VERY painful. everyone was half awake and in pain. Then people started leaving, we saw the awards and raffle results (Got some stuff, t shirts mug and the like. not much worth noting). Then the first lap for next year. I got to carry one of the flags! Then went home. and here i am.

The amazing part in Ian. the 9 year old who walked 26 miles in the time frame (thats 104 laps). Amazing feat, but James did the same thing. But ians half his age, so its a stunning acomplishment. Poor kids gonna be hurting for a week.

I might update this post with more details later.

Tell me how the sat recital went?
